In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) announced that it will be holding its annual convention online, and present AuDacity 2020: Forge Ahead & Forge Ahead Down Under, on October 16-17, 2020, in collaboration with Independent Audiologists Australia (IAA) and Independent Audiologists New Zealand (IANZ). Together ADA, IAA, and IANZ members and guest speakers will deliver unique programming, exceptional networking, and interactive training to audiologists and practice owners around the world.
The ADA’s announcement says that the AuDacity 2020 Planning Committee—co-chaired by David Citron, PhD, and Amyn Amlani, PhD—dreamed up a conference program so big and so innovative, it cannot be contained in Texas (Dallas was the scheduled venue on November 2-4) or be confined to any physical location. “When it comes to social distancing, 6 feet can feel like 6 million miles,” stated the Academy. “Conventional conventions may be out of the question right now, but our urge to come together to connect, learn, share, grow, and socialize is stronger than ever. If necessity is the mother of invention, and discontent is the father of progress, then perhaps AuDacity is the cool aunt who encourages both children to dream bigger.”

The ADA 2020 Convention moving online in response to the Covid-19 pandemic follows similar postponements and/or announcements by AAA, EUHA, and IHS.
