Bose is discontinuing its Sleepbuds due to ongoing issues with the batteries not fully charging, powering down unexpectedly, or both, according to an article in Engadget.
The $249 noise-masking Sleepbuds were launched in a 2017 Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, and became available for sale in the US and Canada in June 2018. Despite a series of software and firmware updates, the batteries continued to malfunction.

“That led us to look more closely at each piece of hardware. And we learned that while the battery we chose functions safely, it doesn’t work as consistently or predictably as it should to meet our standards,” said Bose General Manager John Roselli in an email Bose sent to customers that was published in Engadget.

Sleepbuds can be returned through the end of 2019 for a full refund by visiting http://worldwide.bose.com/support/sleepbuds or https://worldwide.bose.com/contact.
