Smart Diagnostic Devices, the makers of Smart Tone automatic audiometers and SmartMove DTS data transfer software, announced the release of a new cloud-based audiogram database management system, SmartMove Cloud, for the occupational health hearing conservation industry.
SmartMove is an online database that allows audiologists and hearing conservationists to manage thousands of audiograms over multiple years, according to Smart Diagnostic Devices. It is designed to address a number of challenges hearing conservation practitioners experience when using stand-alone, manually operated audiometers and those that use older technology.
Unlike many PC and networked databases, SmartMove Cloud data is backed up and secured regularly and can be accessed anywhere there is an Internet connection. This is particularly helpful to occupational health program managers who oversee hearing conservation testing for multiple corporate locations, and for consultants that conduct hearing tests for clients using mobile vans.
The company describes SmartMove Cloud as simple, accessible, and easy to use. Users log on using a user name and password. The database looks like a spreadsheet but is robust enough to import and store data for years. Users can manually enter new audiogram data into the cloud or transfer some or all the data from their audiometer using SmartMove DTS (Data Transfer Software). Once the data is transferred, they can create, save, and print individual subject reports. The reports print out on standard 8.5 x 11 paper using a standard computer printer. The SmartMove Cloud site is said to be easy to navigate, and the “Learn More” section outlines each product feature and how it’s used.
Using SmartMove DTS and the SmartMove IC (interface cable), audiogram data can be transferred to SmartMove Cloud from the SMART TONE as well as the Tremetrics RA500, RA300, and HT Wizard audiometers. The data transfer, storage, and reports help meet OSHA, MSHA, or DOT hearing program requirements.
The company reports that SmartMove Cloud provides security measures recommended by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). As a Safe- Harbor Database that is compliant with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), SmartMove Cloud is designed to remove the data security issues related to audiometers, PCs, and networked computers. It also is intended to ensure that the audiogram data is accessed only by authorized users.
Smart Diagnostic Devices says that SmartMove is also affordable, even to small companies required to test few employees, and a basic SmartMove Cloud account includes technical support online and by phone. Hearing conservation practitioners can try SmartMove for two weeks for free.
