Eargo, Mountain View, Calif, a direct-to-consumer health tech company, has announced Eargo Neo, the latest in its line of rechargeable hearing aids.
New Design
Eargo Neo is said to improve upon the core product features Eargo’s hearing aids are said to have: comfort, invisibility, rechargeability, and ease-of-use. It has an all-new design, including patented Flexi Palms—which are made from soft, medical-grade silicone—that, according to Eargo, are said to help allow breathability inside the ear, as well as help provide a better in-ear fit. Eargo Neo also has a new design with a new form factor, including stainless steel contacts that are flush with the side of the casing.
Eargo Neo reportedly supports a wider bandwidth and better acoustic response in higher frequencies than previous innovations, according to the company’s announcement, to help provide improved feedback performance with added stable gain capability for signal below 65dB SPL.
Eargo Neo’s rechargeable battery can be charged overnight and is said to last up to 16 hours on a full charge. Its “quick-charge” feature allows users to charge the Neo for 30 minutes to achieve up to 2-3 hours of use. Additionally, Eargo Neo’s portable charging cradle is also rechargeable with a full charge lasting up to seven days.
App & Connectivity
For the first time, Eargo is launching the Neo with a companion mobile app (available on iOS and Android in late January) that allows users to personalize their Eargo Neo experience through various new sound settings. Furthermore, when paired with Eargo Neo’s charging cradle via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which sends usage data to Eargo’s team of licensed hearing professionals through the cloud, users can receive continually updated sound settings based on their usage and preferences. With Eargo Neo’s cloud and app connectivity, Eargo’s experience team of professionals can help provide users with a more personalized hearing experience.
Downloading the companion app is not required to fully enjoy the benefits of Eargo Neo, and users can still work with Eargo’s team of licensed hearing professionals directly via customer support to adjust their device’s sound profiles to suit their needs.
“Our goal has always been to build a hearing aid that a consumer wants to buy, and the Eargo Neo is the perfect embodiment of that goal,” said Christian Gormsen, CEO of Eargo. “With an even better in-ear design, fit, personalization at their fingertips, and better sound quality, Neo truly lives up to its name of ‘revival’ and will revitalize the lives of the millions of people suffering from hearing loss.”
Pricing and Availability
The company reports that Eargo Neo will be available for purchase in late January online at https://shop.eargo.com/ or by phone at 1-800-61-EARGO with an introductory price of $2,550 for a limited time or with financing starting at $118/month. After that, Neo will cost $2,750 with financing options from $127/month. Eargo Neo comes with two devices, a charger, a 45-day money back guarantee, 1-year warranty and ongoing support by Eargo’s licensed hearing professionals, with the option to extend the warranty to 2 years for an added cost. Eargo Neo is only available in the United States and available to try and experience at b8ta stores in Houston, New York, San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Monica, and Short Hills, New Jersey.

I think my review on Trustpilot explains it all….
Don’t buy Eargo Hearing Aids – They are garbage
I am only giving 1 start because there is no option to give zero stars. I bought Eargo Neos a couple years ago and they were not cheap. I was excited because they seemed like a good product and company. All was well with their performance except for the fact that I found the sound to be a bit shrill and sharp and they feed back in my ears at the slightest elevation of higher pitched voice or noise. After some time the left earpiece dropped to a low volume and barely worked. I called the company and they had me try different things to see if I could get them to work. No go! Fortunately for me, I was just a few weeks within the warranty so they replaced it for free. I felt that if this was a good product it would not have failed in such a short period of time but they replaced it so I was happy for that. Fast forward to a week ago when I first realized that Eargo had an app that I could finally pair with my hearing aids that would allow me to add more low end to the hearing aids and hopefully end or reduce the shrill sound and feedback. Just to be clear, I never received information about this app when I bought the hearing aids and there was nothing mentioning it in the original materials I received. So this was a new and welcome feature to me. I downloaded the app and went about the process of pairing it with the charger. Of course it could not pair with my Iphone so I called the company. They said it may be that since I got the replacement left piece that it was not registered. They registered it and I tried again, no luck. I asked what they could do to fix the problem, Easy, they wanted me to pay $295 for a replacement charger since I am no longer under warranty. I absolutely refused to pay since their charger was obviously faulty to begin with. I am on Social Security and do not have that kind of money to fork over for a product that has proven itself to be substandard. So, here’s my advice. stay the heck away from Eargo. Their hearing aids are not reliable and from the other reviews here I see I am not alone in saying that. Buyer beware of this flimsy, high priced product.
After reading the above reviews, I am worried/skeptical about whether or not we did the right thing ordering this product. Being retired with a fixed income, they have to last more than 2 years (preferably 5 years). I have hearing aids now, since March 2018, and have not had any issues with them.
I’ve had numerous problems with the highest end eargo hearing aids. Not even 2 years and just about every 3 or 4 months had issues. They sent me a new left aid and it still not working because it’s not synced up with the right one – I must have received a left aid from a return from someone else with a different pairing. Now te left hearing aid doesn’t charge. All I get from eargo are emails to upgrade to new ones for a lot of money. I purchased 7K high end hearing aids in past and they lasted 10 years. Eargo at 2500 not working well from start and gone in less than 2 years is terrible value. Stay away from this product until the company grows up a bit.
Eargo has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They sold a new project called, Eargo Neo Hifi, before they could update the app to support it. They will tell you everything you want to hear, but not follow through on any of their promises.
It is nothing more than an overpriced sound amplifier, and didn’t work right from out of the box. Could not reach any support for 1 week, and after that they told me they can’t do anything to adjust the device.
Buy a REAL hearing aid and don’t waste your time with this.
I ordered Eargo Neo for USD 2363 on 17 Dec and the delivery date showing on their website was 20 Dec. Till now I didn’t receive my order, the money has already been debited from my credit card. I’ve sent so many emails to their support team since 20 Dec, nobody is replying !! My order number is S190350702.
So, I bought my Eargos for $2,000 six months ago, to the day, and you think it’s a real value to upgrade now for another $2,000. Really? How about an upgrade program for those you have had the previous version for less than a year.

I AM ON DISABILITY A FIXED INCOME I NEED A NEW OF HEARING AIDS? ARE ALL OF YOUR EARGO HEARING AIDS RECHARGEABLE? HOW MUCH WOULD A PAIR OF YOUR LEAST EXPENSIVE HEARING AIDS COST ME? I DONT HAVE AN EAR DRUM INSIDE MY LEFT EAR BECAUSE IT GOT SHATTERED BACK IN THE EARLY PART OF 1998 I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ONGOING GUN BATTLE IN THE LOWER TENDERLOIN IN S.F.CA.
I have used the Eargo since they first became available. The original product had many issues that the company took care of with replacements. Including a set of the Eargo Plus of which I have been using for almost a year without issues. Nearing the end of the first year the devices started to have issues with charging. After notifying the company they offered replacement plus device at a reduced price of 365.00 each or the new Neo at 2100.00. The concept of a rechargeable amplifying device is still a work in progress. The company is now offering a two year warranty for 200.00. These are amplifiers not hearing aids. The cost of FDA approved HA’s is two to three times higher. However many come with up to five year warranties. You will be spending as much for the Eargo amplifiers as you would’ve for a hearing aid over time. I am getting by with the plus units for the time being however the charging issue is getting worse. I will have to replace these devices soon. With over the counter aids hitting the market potentially in 2020 I may just purchase the Eargo plus for the 365.00 and then see whats available over the counter. In conclusion the Eargo design is great. The reliability is still in the engineering phase. I hope Eargo can perfect it’s reliability.
Cheers
Why only black in color can they be turned off when not in use, will they soil easy from ear wax or can they be cleaned daily
Hi Robert, happy to help. The black only color is because it mimics the shadow of your canal, making it more invisible. There are cleaning supplies included to remove wax before placing on the charger, and you may mute the Neo from your smart phone. Would like ongoing info when price is about 1500 dollars
I purchased the Eargo Neo when it was first released and here is my experience.
The Eargo Neo is very comfortable to wear. It is very easy to use and does provide a “clearer” sound that is “crisper”, more vibrant. It does taking getting use to as you will hear a lot more noise around you as you begin to hear things you don’t normally hear. So while speech is clearer, it can still be a challenge to hear as you will also hear a lot of more background noise as well.. like in a restaurant. I guess overtime your brain will getting better on focusing on voices, but this did not happen for me.
Here are the problems I experienced:
The left ear Eargo failed within a few days of receiving my first set. It just completely stopped amplifying any sound. I contacted their client care and they sent me a new one, but it took over a week to get it replaced.
The left Eargo in the second set began to have noticeable static. While it did amplify the sound, it suddenly started also having static. This occurred only after a few days.
The charger from time to time shows 4 red dots on one of the charging ports. I have no idea what this means, but it appears that the Ergo does not charge when it is showing this. I am not sure if this is a defect or something else as I could not find any documentation about this.
When I tried to contact Client Care after the second failure I was unable to talk with anyone. After waiting on hold for a few minutes it sends me to voicemail with a recording asking me to leave a message and they will contact me the next day. The next day I missed their call and was again told to call. My second call again goes to voicemail which requires me to leave a message and wait another day. This is crazy and poor customer service.
My overall opinion is that the Eargo Neo is not yet reliable and that they still have quality control issues. Their customer support is not able to handle the request they are receiving which also makes me feel like that there may be a lot of others with issues as well. I would not recommend buying form Eargo at this time.
THANKS FOR LET US KNOW ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE. MY QUESTION : WHAT ARE GOING TO DO NOW, WHAT KIND OF HEARING AID YOU ARE PLANNING TO GET . I NEED ONE AND i’M VERY CONFUSED BECAUSE THERE IS A LOT OFFERING. (HABLA ESPANOL?)
