The ultimate “brass ring” for hearing care professionals might be to please highly discerning musicians and music-philes who use our hearing aids. Admittedly, it can be a tall order. I’ve seen musician friends turn up their noses at what I thought to be fairly high-end stereo systems. The Hearing Review has published several articles and podcasts—featuring experts like Marshall Chasin, Larry Revit, and Mead Killion—on how best to fit musicians with hearing aids. This edition of HR International shows why music can be so important to people. It seems self-evident that most people would consider music a fundamental joy in life. But the article by Drs Beck & Bhatara shows why musicians are a unique breed of folks, and why music can “feed the brain”—perhaps in ways we don’t quite yet understand.
