The final National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Guideline on Tinnitus: Assessment and Management guideline has now been published on the NICE website, according to a posting on the British Academy of Audiology (BAA) website. You can also find the supporting evidence, tools and resources, as well as all the stakeholder comments that were received during consultation and the responses to these comments. There is also an equality impact assessment to support the guideline.
The recommendations from this guideline have been included in the NICE pathway on tinnitus, which brings together everything the BAA has said on Tinnitus: Assessment and Management in an interactive flowchart. There is brief information about the guideline for people using services, carers and the public at ‘information for the public’.
This guideline covers the assessment, investigation and management of tinnitus in primary, community, and secondary care. It offers advice to healthcare professionals on supporting people presenting with tinnitus and on when to refer for specialist assessment and management.
For adults with tinnitus and hearing loss, this guideline should be read together with the NICE guideline on hearing loss in adults.
