The 2024 Oticon Audiology Summer Camp, held August 4–8 in Park City, Utah, brought together 50 graduate students in audiology representing a cross-section of U.S. universities. Led by an expert team of Oticon audiologists, researchers, and hearing industry veterans, the annual educational gathering aims to bridge academic learning with relevant, practical professional world knowledge and insights, complemented by hands-on workshops.

Since the program launched more than 25 years ago, the curriculum has evolved continually to reflect changes in hearing healthcare. The core focus remains: to help students successfully transition to a career in audiology in the evolving world of hearing healthcare.

2024 Oticon Audiology Summer Camp Content
Throughout the week-long educational event, in-depth general sessions engaged students in formal and informal discussions on a range of topics including BrainHearing and the cognitive aspects of hearing, the role of connectivity in hearing care, complex fittings, and the special needs of pediatric and veteran populations.
Brad Stach, PhD, head of the Division of Audiology at Henry Ford Health, provided students with an overview of six decades of audiological research as seen through the eyes of the late James Jerger, PhD.
In sessions exploring possible career paths, students learned what they might expect in different settings from hospitals and private practice to government services and academics/research.
Chance to Establish Professional Networks
For graduate students participating in their first professional development event, the 2024 Oticon Audiology Summer Camp also offered new professionals a unique opportunity to begin to establish their own professional networks.
