The 25th annual International Conference on Management of the Tinnitus & Hyperacusis Patient will be held June 15-16 by the University of Iowa Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in Iowa City. Organized each year by Rich Tyler, PhD, the conference is designed to review current evaluation and management strategies for the treatment of tinnitus and hyperacusis, and otologists, audiologists, hearing aid specialists, psychologists, and all health care professionals who provide clinical services for patients are invited to attend. The conference will also provide information to patients who have tinnitus, their family, and friends, but it will not include individual diagnosis and treatment.
This year’s guest of honor is Craig Formby, PhD, of the University of Alabama who will present “Studies on Treating Hyperacusis.” Additionally, more than 14 other presentations will be offered by tinnitus and hyperacusis experts including Claudia Coelho, MD (Should Dietary Supplements Be Offered?), Bobbi Scherer, PhD (NIH Trial on Tinnitus Retraining Therapy), Shelley Witt, MA (Tinnitus Activities Treatment), Tyler (The Cochlear Implant for Tinnitus), Marian Hansen, MD (Medical Evaluation and Treatments), Phil Gander, PhD (Tinnitus and Its Effects in the Brain), and many more. Industry representatives will also be present from companies including Desyncra, Signia, Starkey, Audiology Systems, ReSound, Hypersound, Phonak, and Neuromonics.
