Anders Hedegaard has resigned as CEO of GN Hearing, after accepting a position as CEO in another company outside of the hearing industry, according to the company. Marcus Desimoni will act as interim CEO of GN Hearing, in parallel with his role as CFO of GN Store Nord and GN Hearing, until a new CEO for GN Hearing is appointed. Desimoni and GN Audio CEO René Svendsen-Tune will constitute GN Store Nord’s Executive Management team.
According to the brief press statement from GN, Hedegaard will support a smooth transition.
“GN is thankful to Anders for his services during the last four years, in which GN has executed on its ambitious plans to continuously lead its respective industries in terms of innovation and growth,” said Per Wold-Olsen, chairman of the Board of Directors of GN Store Nord.
Hedegaard was appointed as CEO of GN ReSound and member of GN’s executive team in August 2014, when he took charge after Lars Viksmoen stepped down for family reasons. Hedegaard had previously served as CEO of Bavarian Nordic A/S, a biotechnology company, and had extensive experience in the pharmaceutical and MedTech industries from senior management positions in ALK-Abelló A/S, FOSS A/S, and Novo Nordisk A/S. He oversaw GN Hearing as it became the earliest adopter of 2.4 GHz technology in hearing aids. Although the company did well in 2015 (14% revenue growth, 6% organic), it was a challenging year, due to a fraud case involving Beltone’s CFO leading to the resignation of Beltone’s CEO, and a management change at GN Netcom involving the CEO and CFO. In 2016, the company experienced a double-digit revenue increase of 12%, with 6% organic growth, purchasing Audigy Group in July 2016 and divesting its diagnostic equipment division, Otometrics, selling it to Natus Medical in September 2016. Last year, GN saw revenues grow by 11% and organic growth of 8%. The company is currently in the second year of their 2017-2019 corporate strategy titled “Hear More, Do More, Be More.”

Money could be the motivation for the shift out. CEO’s don’t have to go through personality issues that may derail their intentions. He’s been bought out. I may find him at a private beach in Bahamas soon!
