As audiology continues to evolve, it is critical to acknowledge that our future depends upon recognizing and serving patients from a whole-person perspective, rather than taking a narrow view of the person with hearing loss addressed only with amplification. This is the thesis of a new white paper by a group of private practice audiologists who show how tailored solutions—including amplification, assistive technology, safety/alerting systems, expanded telecommunications options, artificial intelligence, and collaborative professional networking—can result in better outcomes and happier clients, while solidifying audiology’s role in general healthcare. The paper also demonstrates how professionals and office staff can use case histories and testing to identify a wide array of products and programs to meet each individual’s unique needs.
